Hollywood star Leonardo DiCaprio has sparked backlash after a viral video showed him ignoring a traditional farewell performance at a luxury hotel in Nadi, Fiji’s third-largest urban centre.

In the video, which was posted on TikTok on Thursday, November 21, hotel staff sang ‘Isa Lei’ – a track usually performed for departing guests – while DiCaprio, dressed in black, walked through the lobby, appearing to he is talking on his phone.
Despite the cheerful farewell, the Oscar winner kept his head down and didn’t engage with the crowd of onlookers. DiCaprio’s girlfriend, model Vittoria Serretti, was also present during the farewell.
Once the video went viral, commenters on the popular social media app blasted the Titanic star.
“Not even a thank you or a nod,” one person wrote, while another called him “disrespectful.” A third commenter accused DiCaprio of faking a “fake phone call” to avoid the situation altogether.

“He didn’t ask for a choir”
Some fans were quick to defend him, noting the number of cameras in the venue and the fact that DiCaprio is used to keeping a low profile.
“He didn’t ask for a choir. He wants to be left alone like the rest of us,” one supporter commented.
While DiCaprio has yet to publicly respond to the incident, sources told Page Six that his seemingly aloof demeanor was not an intentional insult to hotel staff or guests, stressing that the Hollywood icon is “very polite.”
DiCaprio’s stay in Fiji comes amid rumors he proposed to 26-year-old Sereti. But Page Six’s insiders shot down the engagement rumours, calling them “nothing more than an internet rumour”.
