Couple married and divorced 12 times for… retirement

Unthinkable fraud in Austria! Within 40 years, the couple was united in marriage 12 times and divorced as many times. The reason? To earn 326,000 euros from the country’s pension system.

Androgynous exploited one loophole in Austrian law that entitled the wife to claim €27,000 for each remarriage. The woman received a widow’s pension from the state after her first husband died in 1981, according to Bild.

A year later, the 73-year-old married for the first time to her second husband, who is a few years younger than her.

They divorced in 1988 citing “problems in their relationship” because of the man’s work as a truck driver.

The separation opened a cycle of marriages, divorces, remarriages and re-divorces, with each cohabitation lasting about 3 years.

The Police conducted an investigation and discovered that the couple had practically never divorced. Neighbors and relatives testified that they lived together all this time while those who knew them described them as the “wedding template».
