A man logged onto the North Korean internet and was surprised by what he found there.

OR North Koreathis secretive country has been associated in the public opinion with suffocating information control to which its citizens have access.

Unfettered access to the internet would obviously be a major problem in controlling it flow of information. So, as you can imagine, the North Korea has created a very strict framework around what citizens are allowed to do.

It’s not just about controlling what people see, as the reclusive country wants to avoid at all costs the risk of cyber attacks.

Therefore, citizens’ easy access to Western websites could make the country more vulnerable to a Western cyberattack, so it has many reasons – both strategic and political – to control the internet very closely.

However, a few months ago the YouTuber Eric Parker connected to the browser used in North Korea and was surprised by what he found. But in order to access the internet, he first had to install one North Korean software on his laptop.

Obviously, western browsers like the Chromethe Firefox or the Safarido not exist on the North Korean internet.

When he finally connected, he found that he could choose four locations. These were the North Koreah Russia and the Tokyo and Osaka in Japan. Surprisingly, there was no China.

One thing he noticed was that the browser design didn’t look anything like what users are familiar with Mac and the users of the western world in general.

When the Parker he tried to access sites like Google and YouTube, including his own channel, but was deadlocked.
