Rescuers in Missouri were left stunned when they found a bald eagle unable to fly.

An unusual business rescue took place recently at Wilson’s Creek National Battlefield in Missouriwhere one bald eagle he found himself pinned to the ground – not because of injury, but because he had failed to the point where he could no longer fly.

The Missouri Department of Conservation initially received reports of one injured bald eagle at the Civil War Historic Site. However, upon arrival, the rescuers discovered that the truth was much simpler – the eagle was simply “too fat to fly». The bird had swallowed a raccoon, making it too heavy to take off.

The bird, which was initially reported to be injured, was found to be healthy but had been swallowed [ρακούν] – in other words, too fat to fly“, the service announced. X-rays shared by the agency even showed an undigested raccoon foot still in the eagle’s stomach, confirming the bird’s heavy meal.

Fortunately, the eagle did not require medical intervention beyond a short time to digest its massive meal. After being given time to process the meal and regain his strength, the bald eagle was successfully released into the park.
