A video shot three days ago has gone viral showing the amazing moment a woman went downstairs to find a huge and obviously hungry bear searching her kitchen for food. We have to report that the bear didn’t find anything to eat and that says a lot about the American economy.
Jazmin Montalvo posted a video on TikTok showing the moment she came down the stairs of her Truckee, California home, only to find she had an uninvited visitor. The visitor was a large bear, who was wandering around the kitchen looking in the fridge for something to satisfy his evening cravings.
Within just three days, the video went viral with over 17.2 million views and over 2.4 million likes on TikTok. The clip shocked many social media users, with many surprised that the wild animal knew exactly where to look for food. Bears can smell food up to 30 kilometers away.
Montalvo and her company made sure not to get too close to the wild animal, choosing to stay on the stairs and record from a distance. Fortunately for them and unfortunately for the hungry bear, as soon as he managed to find a plate with leftover food, he took it and ran away from the house.

The smells draw hungry bears to people’s homes
As wild bears are always on the lookout for food, they smell garbage bags or food scraps left on barbecue grills. These scents can bring them closer to a human’s property, even indoors, if they can sense more food inside the home.
According to BearWise, an education and outreach program supported by the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Association, during any encounter with a bear, it’s best to give the animal a clear escape route by leaving doors open and never you lock yourself in.
Alternatively, if you see a bear in the woods or in a public area, you should stay still and move quietly in the opposite direction. If you meet her in your yard make loud noises to get her to leave. Never run away from a bear as this could cause it to react by awakening its hunter instinct.
If a bear approaches you or starts following you, BearWise recommends standing up and looking bigger by raising your arms in the air. When you are with other people, it is also important to stay together and not go in different directions. The most important thing is to know that the bear itself does not have a priority to attack you, but prefers you to run away.
