YouTuber Jack Doherty crashed his $300,000 McLaren, injuring his co-driver, and caused outrage for three reasons.
The YouTuber was driving one-handed in the rain and looking at his phone when he crashed
The 20-year-old was live-streaming the Kick, driving with one hand and looking at his phone as he drove at high speed in pouring rain, before losing control of the supercar.
The McLaren 570S skidded on the wet highway in Miami, before crashing into the metal railing on the side of the road. The hood of the car was ripped off, and the entire front half of it was destroyed.
Jack was able to get out of the car uninjured, but his friend, Michael David, who was sitting in the front passenger seat, was injured. He had blood running down his face and had to be taken to hospital.
His friend was injured and he had him take a video!
But not before the driver has him film the wrecked car!
Jack has since been banned from streaming platform Kick for breaching the security terms.
Some believe his ban is related to the fact that he was seen reading some live comments while driving seconds before the accident.
According to information, at that moment more than 185,000 people were watching the live.
He was more interested in McLaren than his injured friend
Comments on the YouTuber are plentiful, with most of them mocking him for appearing to care more about his car than his injured friend. They also accuse him of having his injured friend take video!
Footage from the livestream shows Jack handing his camera to a rescuer to film him climbing out of the car window after the crash, while he repeatedly comments on the McLaren’s condition.
Meanwhile, his friend was covered in blood and holding his wrist that appears to have been hit, as others comforted him.
“Your friend’s face is gushing blood, but you keep him filming from all angles… nice.”
Jack Doherty has 14.9 million subscribers on YouTube.
Underneath the video he posted on Twitter is a note that the original video has been edited by the YouTuber to hide information, while it is noted that he appears to be looking at his cellphone when he crashed.
