Mania has caught the Spaniards and they are looking for a partner with the help of pineapple! The new craze in supermarket aisles requires singles to find a match using a code with the fruit in their basket.
According to the BBC, in recent days single Spaniards have been going to Mercadona chain stores between 7 p.m. and 8 p.m. At that time it is rumored that they can make a romantic acquaintance if they place an upside down pineapple in the shopping cart.
The phenomenon has also been broadcast by actress and comedian Vivy Lin, who posted videos on TikTok pushing a trolley in a supermarket and saying: “The pineapple on the Mercadona shelf is waiting for you to find your match”.
The pairing effort is completed when someone pushes their cart towards the store’s wine rackshoping that a person he likes will respond positively.
