Bill Gates was mocked for his views on the internet on The Late Show with David Letterman in 1995.
THE Bill Gates – one of the greatest minds’ and one of the most revolutionary developers of all time – was once mocked for believing that the internet was humanity’s next big “step”.
However, to be fair, the 1995things were very different compared to today.
So, about 30 years ago his opinion Gates for the internet was not taken as seriously by the viewers watching it The Late Show with him David Lettermanas they found the whole thing quite hilarious, far-fetched and somewhat unreal…
This particular interview went viral again in 2022, after it came to his attention Elon Musk, who retweeted her on X.
During the interview in question, the presenter asks the following question to Gates: “What about the internet thing? Do you know anything about it?’ The developer’s response was direct and clear: “Certainly”.
The audience and presenter started laughing, with him Letterman to wonder: “What the hell is that?”.
THE Gates he ignored the laughter and explained: “So it’s a place where people will be able to post information and anyone will be able to access it. All companies will be there! With the internet you will be able to send messages to other people”. If only he knew then what else the internet would do…
“It is a great and very new thing for mankind”argued the Bill Gates .
However, the Letterman and the audience didn’t seem convinced and kept laughing…
Now, 29 years later, we know who had the last laugh.
